Frequently Asked Questions
I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner in Idaho and have completed a fellowship and several professional development training experiences since earning my doctorate in 2018. Before starting my private practice in 2021, I taught at a university and worked in many different outpatient and inpatient settings mental healthcare settings.
My normal business hours are pretty standard – 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.
However, I understand that sometimes life can throw curveballs and you may need to schedule an appointment outside of my regular hours. While I can’t guarantee that I’ll always be available, I am willing to consider requests on a case-by-case basis. Just keep in mind that for any after-hours appointments, there will be a premium fee attached.
Yes, I absolutely offer online and phone appointments! In fact, I believe that these types of appointments can be even more comfortable for clients than in-person sessions. Not only do you get to participate in therapy from the comfort of your own home (or wherever you happen to be), but you also have the freedom to move around as you please.
Want to stretch your legs during our session? Go for it! Feel like curling up on the couch in your pajamas? No problem! With online and phone appointments, you have the flexibility to create the ideal environment for your therapy experience. And don’t worry – I’ll be here on the other end of the line (or screen) to provide the same level of care and support as I would in person.
The standard appointment length is 50 minutes, which gives us plenty of time to dive deep into the day’s topic and really explore what’s going on for you. But don’t worry – I won’t keep you here all day (unless, of course, you really want to stay)!
In fact, we’ll have about 45 minutes for our discussion, and then 5 minutes for those dreaded administrative tasks (you know, the ones that nobody wants to deal with but that we have to take care of). But if you ever need more or less time for our appointments, just let me know! I’m always happy to adjust our schedule to fit your needs.
So whether you’re a fan of short and sweet sessions or you prefer to really dig in and explore, I’m here to support you every step of the way.
You can give me a call at (208) 615-9500. I’ll be happy to answer any questions you have, and we can schedule your appointment over the phone.
A superbill is a fancy term for a document that shows the services you received during our therapy sessions, along with the corresponding fees. It’s not a bill that you pay directly – instead, you can submit it to your insurance company for reimbursement.
I currently work with a wide range of insurance providers to ensure accessibility to my services. However, to make things simpler, let’s start with the few companies I don’t contract with, which are Regence and Tricare.
On the positive side, I do accept Medicaid and Medicare, which means I can provide support to those covered under these plans.
It’s essential to stay informed about your insurance coverage, so I recommend double-checking with your insurance company to ensure that my services are covered under your specific plan. This way, you can be aware of your options and any potential out-of-pocket expenses.
If you have any questions or concerns about insurance coverage or payment options, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here to assist you in any way I can on your journey to wellness.
Ah, the age-old question – to medicate or not to medicate? As a therapist, I am trained to approach mental health treatment in a holistic way, which means taking into account all possible avenues for healing, including medication.
So, to answer your question, yes, I do prescribe medications when it’s appropriate and necessary. However, I always strive to find more sustainable solutions for my clients first. Together, we can explore different therapies, coping mechanisms, and lifestyle changes that can have a profound impact on mental health.
Of course, every person’s journey is unique, and what works for one may not work for another. That’s why I always take the time to listen to my clients, understand their needs and goals, and work with them to create a personalized treatment plan.
So, whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, or any other mental health issue, rest assured that I am here to support you every step of the way. Let’s work together to find the best path forward – medication or otherwise!
Homework? Ain’t nobody got time for that! I mean, seriously, who wants to do more work after a therapy session? Not me, that’s for sure!
I’m not about to give you a bunch of boring assignments to complete before our next session. No way! Instead, I prefer to empower my clients to take charge of their own growth and development.
During our sessions, we will work together to identify areas of your life that could use some extra attention and TLC.
Maybe it’s your mind that needs a little mental workout, and we’ll explore mindfulness exercises together. Or perhaps you’re a creative soul, and you’ll enjoy journaling your way to a better headspace. And hey, if you’re anything like me, you love a good walk – so we can make that part of our game plan too!
The best part? Whatever we choose, it won’t feel like a chore. That’s right, you read it here first – therapy doesn’t have to be boring! In fact, it can be downright enjoyable. We’ll tailor our approach to fit your unique interests and needs, so you can get the most out of each session.
Well, well, well, you’ve stumbled upon the mystery of the quokka, the happiest and most smiley creature on this planet! These little guys are so friendly and curious that they’re practically the Australian version of an Ewok- they’re always happy to see you, and they’ll never judge you for binge-watching Star Wars for the umpteenth time. In fact, they might just curl up next to you and join in on the fun! And who can blame them? With their perpetually smiling faces and joyful spirits, quokkas are the perfect companions for any adventure – whether it’s battling the dark side or just taking a leisurely stroll through the Australian outback. So next time you’re feeling a bit blue, just remember that the quokka is out there, spreading joy and cheer wherever it goes. May the force be with you, and may the quokka’s smile light your way!
The word “quokka” comes from the Noongar language, which is spoken by indigenous peoples in Western Australia. It’s just one example of the rich diversity of language and culture that can be found across the world – and a reminder that even the smallest and seemingly most obscure animals can have a big impact on our lives.
